God loves all people, whether baptized or not, but baptism is initiation into the Christian Church and the Christian way of life. It has been said that “Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime event that takes a lifetime to complete.” Baptism is the way the church has of welcoming new members, and speaks of an ongoing relationship with the church family.
Baptisms at Mark Street are celebrated with the entire congregation to signify that, as an initiation into the life of the community, there is a shared commitment between the family and the congregation to help and support the individual in their faith journey.
